School Awards

We are so proud of M&M this school year.  Both of the girls received awards at their schools.  Little M received a character award in September.  She was very surprised and it was so neat watching her receive her very first school award.  It's so good to know she is well behaved and respectful at school...

Big M received two awards this month.  She received a character award and she made the Principal's Honor Roll for making all A's.  Woohoo! So proud of her.  Being at this assembly really hit me hard this time...brought tears to my eyes when she ran out to receive her award.  She is such a sweet, smart girl.

Love her smile!

Art Award

We are so proud of Big M.  She submitted a poster for an art contest through Family and Children's Services. Her art teacher,  Ms. Heidi, told us about the theme (Family Stories), and Big M got busy drawing and coloring her poster for the contest.  She won second place in her age group (2nd-3rd graders).  It was a really neat experience, and it was such an honor to be recognized with all of the wonderful artists.

Halloween 2014

Halloween was a little chilly this year, but the girls had a ton of fun being Laura Ingalls Wilder and a pink butterfly.  The cold weather didn't stop them from trick-or-treating.  They came home with lots and lots of candy!

Turkey in Disguise

The third graders at Big M's school were asked to disguise a turkey as a famous Oklahoman.  In addition to the disguise, the students were asked to name three facts about the famous Oklahoman they had chosen.   Big M chose Shannon Miller.  It was lots of fun disguising the turkey, but I think she really enjoyed learning the interesting facts about Shannon's gymnastics success.  You can see her turkey below...

Pumpkin Patch 2014

We enjoyed a fun visit to Carmichael's Pumpkin Patch near Bixby last weekend.  The wind was a little breezy, but it felt like Fall for once!  M&M found their favorite pumpkin during our visit. The girls enjoyed seeing the baby pigs, baby goat, and running through the dark maze too.

Improved Hearing

We found out about 3-4 weeks ago that after 4 ear surgeries (not including tubes) on Little M's left ear, she was going to need a hearing aid in her left ear.  We weren't sure how she would feel about it...after ordering it she seemed excited at times and then very curious and cautious at others. Yesterday was her first day to wear it all day after picking it up at the ENT doc's office.  She still won't have "perfect" hearing, but it was awesome seeing the difference the hearing aid made in her hearing during a hearing test on Tuesday afternoon.  She did great with her hearing aid at school Wednesday and seems to be a little jumpy with some usual noises around the house---now they are LOUD to her!  We're not sure if/when she will need further ear surgery, which will likely determine the length of time she will be wearing a hearing aid.  Let's just hope she continues to find it helpful and continues to wear it regularly!

First Day of Kindergarten and Third Grade

It is so hard to believe that the M&M girls are starting another year of school.  They are both at different school buildings this year, but they really seemed to enjoy their first day of school. Little M said her favorite part of the day was "everything".  Big M really thought her teacher, Ms. Garren, was great and she thought it was neat that they went upstairs for music.  I believe both girls will have a great year with their wonderful teachers. I was so happy to see them smiling as they stepped off the school bus today...a  sign of good things ahead!

Snickerdoodles and Creativity

M&M have been asking to eat some snickerdoodle cookies, so I decided that it might be fun for them to help make them.  While these aren't my all time favorite cookie, the cookies tasted wonderful and were fun for the girls to make.  They loved rolling the dough into balls and then covering the dough with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.  And, it was fun for them to measure out ingredients and fight for control of the mixer.

M&M with their yummy Snickerdoodles.

Making snickerdoodles wasn't the only activity of the day.  M&M also wanted to spend some time being creative.  Little M painted a princess canvas she has had for a while.  Big M had fun coloring a portrait holder for her room. It was a busy, fun-filled summer day.  So glad we were able to spend time baking and crafting!

Last day of Pre-K and Second Grade

Wow!  I really can't believe the school year is over and the M&M girls will be heading to Third Grade and Kindergarten next year. We were blessed with wonderful teachers again this year! It is nice to have a break from homework and all, but both of these girls really enjoy their teachers and love learning at school.  So, we ended the school year with many happy memories with Mrs. Mears, Mrs. Hale, and Mrs. Bean, but sad that this year was over too.

Dance Recital 2014

It's so hard to believe another year of school and dance has  come to an end.  We really enjoyed watching the girls dance again with Miss Kristy's Studio.  Little M tap danced to "Party in the U.S.A."  Big M performed a jazz dance to "Rock This Party".  Both of M&M's dances were excellent and their classes performed so well.

Here's the annual pic we take of the girls and I before recital.  I just found out at Mother's Day that taking this picture together is one of  Big M's favorite things...so glad we take the time for it.  Hope we always do.

Easter

We had lots of fun this Easter...dyeing eggs, hunting our real eggs, dinner with friends, and of course finding candy-filled eggs.  M&M love Spring!!

We loved that we were able to dye the eggs so brightly...brightest we've had so far!

Looking so pretty in the Easter dresses Mamaw made.
